terms of use

These terms govern your use of drinks by peckish (the "app"), published by peckish hospitality LLC ("peckish," "we," "us"). By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

the app

drinks by peckish is a cocktail-picking app: you add the bottles you have, name a moment, and the app picks one drink with editorial reasoning. The free tier provides 24 foundational cocktails (the Cocktail Codex framework), 5 picks per day, and session-only inventory. The paid tier (annual subscription or lifetime purchase) unlocks the full library, persistent inventory, and unlimited picks.

subscriptions and purchases

license

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with the Apple App Store terms of service and these terms.

You may not: reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code; use the app for unlawful purposes; resell, redistribute, or sublicense access; circumvent in-app purchase mechanisms.

drinking responsibly

drinks by peckish is for adults of legal drinking age. Cocktails are presented for editorial and informational purposes. Always drink responsibly. Never drive after drinking. If alcohol is a problem in your life, the app is not a substitute for professional support — please reach out to a qualified resource (in the U.S., SAMHSA's National Helpline: 1-800-662-4357, available 24/7, free, confidential).

intellectual property

All content in the app — editorial writing, taxonomy, the peckish wordmark and monogram, the "drinks by peckish" name — is owned by peckish hospitality LLC or its licensors. Cocktail recipes themselves are not copyrightable; the editorial expression around them is.

The Cocktail Codex framework — six families (Old Fashioned, Martini, Daiquiri, Sidecar, Whiskey Highball, Flip) and three ingredient roles (core, balance, seasoning) — is credited to the authors of The Cocktail Codex (Death & Co., 2018) as the foundational taxonomy.

Individual cocktails by named modern creators are credited within the app where attributable.

privacy

How we handle data is described in the privacy policy. Short version: very little leaves your device. Bottle photos go through Anthropic's vision model transiently for recognition. No analytics, no tracking, no ads.

third-party services

The app uses Anthropic's Claude API for bottle recognition, cocktail curation, and natural-language input parsing. Anthropic's usage is governed by their own terms; we send only what is necessary for the feature to work, and we don't link the data to your identity.

disclaimers and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that recommendations will match your taste, that bottle recognition will be accurate, that cocktail recipes are suitable for your particular needs, or that the app will be available without interruption.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, peckish hospitality LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.

changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. Changes take effect when posted at peckish.co/drinks/terms. Material changes will be announced through the app or via the email address on record if you've contacted us.
